The bitterness of eight

I haven't felt it before. At least not like this. But eight is so much, so big, so not a baby for so far, that it kind of hurts that he grows.

I get the feeling that  I can notice a lot of differences. That he really looks older, that he is stopping being a small child to become more like, I don't know, him, and I love to see it, to be present in this transformation, but I do get that, as he puts it: he growing into his own person, into his own ideas apart from me, becoming himself, and I feel proud and kind of sad.

Calvert again

We love our Calvert program. It's very structured and a lot of hard work, but we really love it and enjoy it, it took a while to be able to get back here, but here we are.

The excitement of getting and opening the boxes felt like a party.

And I know, is only July, but we started already, and we are very happy, taking it a little slow at the beginning, getting used to it again.

I'm a little nervous, for teaching this year in English, since it is our secod language, but it seams that my boy has a better level than I thought, he understands a lot and is learning more all the time.

I think this year is going to be great, and having him in my life is the best.

Gay Pride March, Picasso and Robert Doisneau

I give three classes on Saturdays moorning, jumping and excersising with pregnant women, and babies, so usually by noon I'm tired and falling sleep, sometimes I do, but whenever I found the streng to keep going I go out with my boy, since Sundays is a dya of classes (he has guitar and chess) and that makes me feel like we never have free time to do things together.

So last Saturday I head to downtown not having a plan. As we pass in front of our National Theater, Bellas Artes, we got a free ticket to go to the exhibition and so we did.

We saw originals from Robert Doisneau printed by himself, a great documentary on the time the photographer David Douglas Duncan expent with Picasso and some very original work from the painter, such as metal and clay ones.

And also, the Gay Pride March was passing in front and we watch a little, but the sun was too shiny and my eyes could not bare it too long.

I leave you with not very good cell phone photos, since I didn't had my camera with me.

Happy Birthday to me

It was today.

Nice and quiet.

With a gluten-free chocolate cake.

I left you with a tip: do not place candles on a cake you just took out of the over if you don't want to expend half an hour peaking through it trying to get rid of melted candles inside of it.

Yoga on our days

A week ago I decided to include yoga as part of our day.

We still haven't manage to introduce to every day's routine, but when we do it, we enjoy it very much.

The way I do it it's just to get any routine form a magazine and follow it, I have some notions on how you should move your body from the times I was a ballerina and also from my acting training. I did had some yoga classes too in the past years.

My son found it hard to follow my instructions, but I think that we will get to it.

I got a nice app for the relaxing music and right now we have one mat.

At the end I let my son relax and I massage his feet and sprinkle some nice natural scent in the air, I think it must be his favorite part, and mine's too, because we bond, I hope to get better organized to include it on every day start.

Our Valentine Day

Corazón de amor

I have never celebrate, because is not part of our Mexican traditions.

But this year a decided it was fine, and having a lovely and caring boy, the idea of making love cards was celebrated.

I was inspired by this and so I made him one like that and he made one for his grandparent.

Valentines Day

He made one for me that says I love very much, and Made by Itzcóatl, inside.

I made 3 pans of lasagna and give away two, one for my father and one for Itzcóatl's violin teacher who is a little ill.

Mexico tales: The MIX

I had promess the Papalote, Kid's Museum from Mexico city to Itzcóatl. But instead we went the Museo Interactivo de Xalapa and it was a great experience. A very similar museum, with Science, Music and History interactive games.

MIX

And of course, the most wanted for him, bubbles.

Mexico tales: The Zoo

It was nice, even we get a little sad for the animals at the same time. I found it amazing that Itzcóatl (now 5), remembered his last visit from 2 years ago.

Also there was many Mazahua people, I love to hear them speaking their own language.

We used to go to the zoo when something was wrong, as a way to clean up and start again as family, he and me.

I only had my cell phone, so I leave you with pictures from a previous visit.
